| “Puentes Global” means “Global Bridges,” and our name reflects our purpose: bridging the global gaps in semi-skilled, specialized labor and alleviating poverty.
Our mutual values sparked the creation of Puentes, and provide us with the dedication, commitment, and impetus to promote sustainable, positive change through our mission.
Mission
Why do we exist?
Puentes is a non-profit international mobility specialist for semi-skilled and specialized people from low socio-economic backgrounds. Our mission is to help alleviate poverty by:
• Matching low-income, qualified, and productive semi-skilled workers from the developing world with work opportunities in more developed countries, and
• Matching people from developing countries currently working in more developed countries with opportunities to successfully return home, using the skills and training they have acquired abroad.
Vision
How will we shape our world?
Individuals have no control over where they are born. Yet today our nationality is one of the strongest determinants of our general welfare (economic and otherwise).
Being born into a poor family in one of the less-developed regions of the world is not a conscious choice but rather—in the case of billions of people at the base of the economic pyramid (BOP)—an inescapable reality. At Puentes we believe—and base our philosophy on the fact—that this misfortune should not preclude individuals from having the opportunity of pursuing a more rewarding livelihood elsewhere on the planet.
We strive to make aptitude, skills, and hard work—as opposed to the name of the country on your passport—the main factors in enabling millions of people from emerging economies to develop their professional potential, and to build a better life for themselves and their families.
Through improving accessibility to the international labor market and making it accessible to all segments of society (and through ensuring humane, fair, and legitimate practices), we believe that we can do this, and make Puentes Global’s vision a reality. |
